Art Exhibition in Babensham

Die Fabrik lebt - Art exhibition in Babensham

For people who live in Germany near Munich and for all people who visit Germany at the end of November, we highly recommend the art exhibition of our artist Anke Merzbach together with the artist from Germany - Markus Oettl.

Opening: 27/11/2010 – 17:00
Duration:  27/11/2010 - 12/12/2010 – 16:00-20:00

The exhibition is located  inside a former clothing factory in Babensham, which is 65 km east of Munich, Germany. The huge rooms of this old factory,  which are located on over 3.000 square meters space, let the visitor experience the mythic world, where the real and the surreal meet.

Anke Merzbach presents surreal and melancholic digital paintings, which are based on experimental photography.  So far, her artworks were mainly exhibited in Germany, Italy and Israel. In the world of art, Anke is known as a “Bildmacherin”, which means “Image maker” in German.  Her world is full of contradictions and opposite poles. There coexist side by side the casual and the unusual, the lyrical and the tragic, the familiar and the strange. It is melancholic, grotesque, absurdly distorted and yet so poetically beautiful.

Markus Oettl presents wooden sculptures, beautiful watercolors artworks  and mixed media artworks. He creates his sculptures by chainsaw from oak, elm and ash tree.  He is fascinated by decomposition, a natural process that changes the sculpture permanently.  In his watercolor artworks a delicate contrast is barely comprehensible.

The exhibition has  two main themes.

1.  Protection - How much protection we need, what do we protect ourselves
2.  Faces and the landscape of Babensham

Also at the 12th of December,  Anke Merzbach will give a workshop for  photographers. The workshop will start at 11:00 and will continue till dusk.
See details here.

Exhibition location:

Kleiderfabrik - Clothing factory
Raiffeisenstraße 20, 83547 Babensham, Germany
