There’s a common belief that an art exhibition is something that is exclusively held for knowledgeable art experts. We often hear: "I do not understand art”. But the mistake is already inherent in this phrase. Art should not be understood, it should be felt. I want to tell you about the exhibition that aroused great enthusiasm not only among art experts, but also among ordinary people - curious people with open minds. This exhibition was attended by over two thousand people during one month. Not even one visitor remained indifferent, that’s why people are talking so much about this exhibition.
The exhibition "
Three Women - Three Worlds" presented the magical worlds of the three talented photo artists –
Dina Bova,
Anke Merzbach and
Katerina Lomonosov. It also exhibited a new powerful technique of contemporary photo-art, called “Digital art”. With this technique the photographer is no longer limited by the studio or by the horizon. Now we can look not only beyond the horizon, but much further - into the infinite universe of our souls.
The exhibition "
Three Women - Three Worlds" is not an exhibition of documentary photography. It takes you far beyond reality to the mysterious world of dreams. Sometimes this world is absurd and full of paradoxes, sometimes it is strange and surreal, but this world is a reflection of true feelings. In this world, different emotions coexist side by side: irony, fear, joy, pain, sometimes even madness and despair, but there’s always a place for hope and there’s never hatred.
Anke Merzbach is an artist with exceptional talent from Germany. She currently lives in an old farm in Bavaria. She was working for 20 years in various press institutions, writing and editing articles. At the age of 45, she decided to make a drastic change in her life. She left her old work and became an independent photo-artist. After a very short period of time she became one of the most interesting artists in contemporary photography. Anke is not looking for models - they find her. These are people with different experiences in life - people who knew sorrow and disappointments, people who underwent difficult surgeries. They share with her their emotions and pain. She creates artworks that help them ease their pain and emotional wounds. For viewers, Anke’s artworks are something like catharsis – purification through empathy. Anke is a discovery in the world of photography as much as Susan Boyle – a recently discovered star in the world of popular music, who was an unknown housewife in past.
Katerina Lomonosov is a graphic designer by profession and a talented artist by her calling in life. Five years ago she became interested in artistic photography. She started presenting her artworks at various photo sites, and very soon it became clear that she is a very talented, daring and original artist and that she has a lot to tell. Her world is full of sincere emotions, which are simple and complex at the same time. It’s a world full of harmony, beauty, femininity and a bit of sentimental sadness.
Dina Bova is a bright and multi-talented person. She works as an algorithms engineer, specializing in computer vision algorithms. Dina is only 3 years in photography and has already received international recognition as a photo-artist. Dina crossed half the world with a backpack and, during her travels, started to take photographs. At the beginning, her photographs were just an interesting documentation on the mysterious beauty of the surrounding world, but soon she felt too constrained by classic photography. She wanted to expose her inner world, her dreams, her joys, her sorrows and doubts. Through her artworks, Dina started talking about dreams. That's what made her an artist with a unique style, which was highly appreciated in many countries.

What's also interesting is that all the artists – Dina, Katerina and Anke have not received formal education in photography. But because of their talent, creativity and determination, they, like three bright stars, shine in the universe of contemporary photo-art.

The artists use the «
Digital art» technique, but each of them has a unique artistic vision and original style, so their exhibition was called - "
Three Women - Three Worlds."
The exhibition inauguration, on the evening of April 25th, gathered over 500 people. It could be seen by the expression on their faces that they didn’t expect to see what they saw. Professionals with vast experience have been expressing their opinions through the microphone:
Nissim Sanua – The editor in Chief of magazine “The World of Photography”: “
I've been working in photography for over 50 years and during that time I've seen countless exhibitions and photographs. I got the impression that the level of artworks shown at the exhibition" Three Women - Three Worlds” is unusually high, I can even say that it’s higher than any other exhibition I’ve seen so far…"
Sammy Somekh – The official representative of Photographic Society of America (PSA) in Israel: “
I've been to many exhibitions and have not heard so many compliments heaped on one show. There are always those who come to find fault, to slander, to claim that they know better. Not this time - this time they were stunned. The works at the exhibition display Digital Art at its best. This is a new art form born with the help of the computer. It is a marriage between photography and drawing and the results embody surrealistic images.”

Some exhibitions are forgotten even before they are closed, and some leave an indelible stamp in the souls of people for many years. This exhibition has not only exposed artists with unusual talent, but also caused a cultural shock and managed to break stereotypes and change people’s opinions about photography and Digital Art.
One photographer told his colleague that "
men sometimes tend to obsess too much over photo equipment and they forget that at the end what matters is not the equipment, but the talent. This exhibition is a proof to this."
And here’s one more opinion from a painter: ”
I generally do not like photography, and I like Photoshop even less, but the artists used Photoshop to create dreamscapes, compositions and color in ways that neither conventional drawing nor painting can readily achieve, so this exhibition has completely changed my mind."
This exhibition has proven that no matter what tools are used to create an artwork, what really matters is the result that is are obtained with real talent and true emotions...
